When you give a Co-op Membership, you invest in something that will have a long-term positive impact on our community. AND each time the recipient visits one of our Community Partners, they will be reminded of your generous gift! It truly is a gift that keeps on giving!

Everyone knows the saying “Many hands make light work!” Currently we have a small handful of Rooted Carrot volunteers doing a lot of work to keep the effort of bringing the Rooted Carrot Co-op Market to our community. Please continue to read this article to see how you can get involved. You don’t have to be a member to volunteer. You don’t have to spend hours each month. You can choose to be on a committee and/or volunteer for weekly or monthly tasks that are needed to make the Co-op successful.
Board Applications are due October 9th at midnight!
Join your Co-op friends on September 12th from 6-8 p.m. for a 90-minute kayak trip on the Cedar River – starting at the Canfield Access in George Wyth Park; ending at the Exchange Park Boat House in Waterloo. Expertly guided by Crawdaddy Outdoors, who also provides equipment rental for $20*. If you are renting, we’ll meet at 6 p.m. at the pullout location (Boat House) to shuttle you to the launch location. *Those bringing their own kayaks are responsible for shuttling them as needed – please be at the launch before 6:30 p.m.
August was a busy month for the Co-op! We partnered with WeArose Co-op to host a social at their garden in Waterloo following an Urban Farm Crawl event. It was a beautiful night to gather and meet new friends! Rooted Carrot volunteers also spread the word about our co-op at information booths at the College Hill, Dunkerton, and Waterloo Urban Farmers’ Markets. This month we’re looking forward to partnering with Crawdaddy Outdoors to host our second kayak float on the Cedar River. This event is open to all- join us and bring a friend!

As your Co-op continues doing the important work of opening a full-service community-owned grocery business, the contribution of volunteers on each committee is crucial. One such committee that has been a steady and often-under-the-radar force is the Rooted Carrot’s finance team.
Attendees enjoyed the Member mixer potluck and volunteer appreciation night at Washington Park last month! Please pay attention to the calendar of events and articles about upcoming events. We may not have a physical store at this time but we are a Co-op community and we want to bring together members and other people who may be interested in learning more about the Co-op. All of our events are open to members and nonmembers. The only exception is the Member-owner Annual Meeting. That is an opportunity for members only to get an update on the Co-op.
