The Communications Committee is getting excited about the next phase of the capital campaign, which is slated for early next year! November has come and gone—a sure sign that it was a busy month for your Board of Directors! Though many things were discussed and worked on, let’s cut to the chase: the site for the new store! As many of you have seen, the church that once occupied the corners of 7th and Main is being torn down as of this writing and there continues to be discussions concerning site details. As a board, we recently learned that a newly-approved City Code change took effect in November. This code change specifically addresses parking in the downtown area and will have an impact on our project. This impact is yet to be fully determined and we are actively working with the developer, developer’s team, and the City as we move forward.Continue reading
It has been a busy time for the Co-op! We hosted our annual member-owner meeting over Zoom last Wednesday, October 27th. The recording of that meeting and our annual report will be available soon. Our Board Elections wrapped up October 28th and we elected Lisa Nelson as a new member and re-elected Paige Everly and Kate Dunning as returning board members. Phase I of our Capital Campaign yielded over 400 individual contributions and garnered more than $720,000 toward our goal of $1.6 million. How amazing is that?! Also impressive is that we raised a larger percentage of our overall goal in Phase I than other co-op capital Phase I campaigns in similar markets, like Oshkosh, WI. This is even more validation that our community wants the Rooted Carrot Co-op to happen. And it IS happening!Continue reading
Celebrated by cooperatives nationwide during the month of October, National Co-op Month is an annual opportunity to raise awareness of a trusted, proven way to do business and build communities. Under the theme “Build Back for Impact,” this year’s Co-op Month is also a chance to leverage our shared cooperative identity in the face of some of the biggest challenges we face: a global pandemic, climate emergency and systemic racism.
