Spring has finally sprung and Earth Day is an excellent time to celebrate! Here are a list of some events in the Cedar Valley where you can learn about sustainability and learn how to give back to the Earth.
April:
4/15: The Ethics of Energy Production, 9am, Mauker Union, UNI campus.
- A panel of experts will provide a comprehensive picture of energy production in Iowa and discuss economic effects, environmental impacts, legal aspects, agricultural viewpoints, and employment prospects related to the topic. 4/19: Earth Fair, 1-5pm, Hartman Reserve Nature Center.

4/22: Healthy Communities film: “The Cleantech Future,” 7pm, CEEE, UNI campus,

- Free lunch, music, and activities to celebrate Earth Day.
4/25: Cedar Valley Cyclists Trail Cleanup and Potluck, 9am-2pm
- Join the Cedar Valley Cyclists for their annual trail clean up day.CVC will clean the Sergeant Road Trail from downtown Waterloo toward Hudson. The gathering point will be Oneal Steel parking lot, 2600 Sergeant Rd, Waterloo. There will be a barbecue lunch with special beverages around noon at Oneal’s parking lot, so bring a dish (chips, salad, fruit, veggies, desert, etc.) to share. - Learn the techniques used by early immigrants to set up their homesteads and create a life for themselves on the Iowa plains.
