ROOTED CARROT CO-OP COMMITTED TO FINDING A NEW SITE IN CEDAR FALLS

You may have seen this recent article in the Courier. YES we are still actively seeking a site and YES we still have volunteers working daily on bringing a Co-op to the Cedar Valley!!!!

Please note there was miscommunication and the incorrect quote was given to the Courier on behalf of Kate Dunning, Site Co-Chair. Here is the correct quote:

“Rooted Carrot has been seeking lease occupancy within established buildings that can either be rehabilitated or torn down to start fresh. Our experience with the developer these past few years was very positive.  Meeting timelines and seeking clarity on all requirements has been top of mind for our Site Team in lieu of having the full control of other variables. Our communication with partners like the city and developers has reflected that. Unfortunately, variables surface that, despite pulling out all the tools, serve as disappointing and painful realities but that ultimately provide us even more vigor and resolve to continue to seek positive partnership so that local grocery will be added to the impressive lineup of all things Cedar Falls.”

Our committees continue to work actively behind the scenes. We have 5 committees-Site, Capital Campaign, Operations, Finance, and Membership/Communications. The Finance Committee and Finance Chair, Gina Brown, worked to create our 2022-2023 fiscal year budget that will be approved by the Board in July. They continue to reconcile the accounts and a financial report is presented monthly to the Board. Our Site committee is actively looking at potential sites in the downton Cedar Falls area. The Capital Campaign committee continues to explore funding options and get organized for the second phase of the public campaign. Once a site is finalized and a timeline is created the Operations Committee will actively start searching for a General Manager. The Membership/Communications team continue to bring you this Garlic Press newsletter, provide updates on social media (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube), update the website, recruit members, and schedule member-mixer events.

WE NEED YOU!!! We are actively seeking additional committee members and three Board positions. Committee members can start anytime and Board positions would start November 1st. Please reach out to us at info@rootedcarrot.coop or email a board member directly Board of Directors – Rooted Carrot Co-op if you want to learn more! We also invite you to attend a Board Meeting to learn more.

We hope to see all member-owners at our Volunteer Appreciation Potluck on July 19th at 6 p.m. at Washington Park!

Jodie Huegerich, Board President
