Callers Needed for the Rooted Carrot Co-op Market’s Capital Campaign

In March, members of your Co-op Market attended a conference for start-up food co-ops. One of the first workshops was a presentation by Fredericksburg Food Co-op (from Virginia). Their board president, Rich Larochelle, talked about their recently completed – and wildly successful – capital campaign. He walked attendees through all the steps they took to conduct their campaign.

The room was full of people from communities across the U.S. all frantically taking notes during the PowerPoint presentation. Running a campaign, we all collectively thought, looks like a lot of hard work. So we were quite surprised when Rich announced at this slide of the volunteers who were helping run the campaign:

“Everyone had a lot of fun.”

We all chuckled. Surely he’s kidding, we thought.

But Rich doubled down and said that their team did have a lot of fun, and recounted stories of volunteers delivering snacks, engaging in friendly competitions, and more. Another Fredericksburg Co-op board member chimed in as well to validate Rich’s claim.

Now, just a little over a month from now, the Rooted Carrot is about to embark on its capital campaign. And we’re ready to have you join in the fun!

Your Co-op needs volunteer callers to help with the campaign. Training will be provided. And snacks, too! It’s your chance to help the Co-op raise $1.6 million. The sooner we can get a crew of volunteers lined up, the sooner the fun can begin!

Please contact Committee Chair Tom Wickersham if you wish to help volunteer in the upcoming campaign.
