Cold Temperatures + Delicious Food and Drink + Good Conversation = Great Community!

Member-owners, Kris Klinehart and LeAnn Sprau toast to the Co-op!

Where were you the afternoon of January 27? If you were a part of the more than 70 people who came to The Brass Tap in Cedar Falls, you experienced the amazing community spirit that permeated the room! Member-owners invited friends, family and neighbors to join them at our fifth annual Plus One Member Mixer, creating a lively crowd.

The Brass Tap generously provided us full use of their back room, free appetizers, and discounts off of food and drink. Six new member-owners joined at the event. Each one received a free meal and beverage courtesy of the Brass Tap and those who referred these new members were gifted with a drink. In addition, this fabulous business partner unveiled their new deal for Co-op member-owners – 10% off of all draft beers any time when you show your card. We are grateful to this business as well as two other local businesses, Milkbox Bakery and Montage who provided door prizes in the form of gift cards. As we continue our work on bringing our cooperatively grocery store to the Cedar Valley, we are humbled by the number of businesses already in full support of our efforts!

Board member, Trevor Hendrickson talks to guests about the Co-op

The event was filled with casual conversation as guests mingled, connecting with one another as well as learning more about the Co-op. Board members, Trevor Hendrickson and Scott Wirtz welcomed everyone and gave an update about current work happening, much of it often behind-the-scenes, and encouraged all to do their part in supporting our endeavors. They spoke of our ongoing search for the best space for our future store and explained that once we have our location, we’ll move fully into our final stage of development.

We are excited about the continued support from the Cedar Valley for this locally-grown business. The process takes several years to ensure that we have a viable, well-thought-out, full-service cooperative grocery store supporting our local producers and economy for years to come.

Huge thanks from your Co-op to all of you in this community. And if you missed this event, don’t worry – there are others on the horizon! Check this newsletter and our Facebook page for upcoming opportunities.
