At the annual Member-owner Meeting & Social, the Cedar Falls Food Co-op wrapped up its election season for positions on the Board of Directors, and it is pleased to announce the results of the voting.

With 38.8% of the membership voting, the following have been elected to serve three-year terms on the Board: Heidi Noonan-Day, Joy Thorson, and Tom Wickersham. Their terms start at the November 21 Board meeting.

Noonan-Day and Thorson are new to the Board, while Wickersham will be serving a second term. The nine-member Board leads the Co-op’s efforts to establish the community-owned grocery store in or near downtown Cedar Falls. The Co-op estimates opening in approximately two years.

Noonan-Day is an instructor of business law at UNI. She’s also passionate about food education and organic gardening. Thorson, recently retired from UNI, has been active in the community, including serving on the Cedar Falls Community Theatre’s board and the Co-op’s Membership Committee. Wickersham, who was part of the original steering committee for the Co-op, works for the Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa.

The Co-op extends its sincere appreciation for outgoing Board members Terry Stewart and Jaime Wilson. Both Stewart and Wilson have been instrumental in the Co-op’s success, and will continue to serve on committees.

Co-op member-owners who are interested in adding their skills set to the cooperative, are encouraged to join a committee or the Board. Drop us a line at info@cedarfallsfood.coop.
