The air might be getting a little chilly but that’s no excuse to hide inside. Check out all the great activities happening in the Cedar Valley during September.

Art

ARTapalooza on Main Street in Downtown Cedar Falls is an annual juried art show featuring local artists. Kids activities, demonstrations, and entertainment is included as well. Check it out September 12, from 9-4. More information available here.

Music

If you enjoy live music outdoors, you’re in luck. Both Waterloo and Cedar Falls have great outdoor venues. You can check out the Cedar Falls Municipal Band’s Labor Day Encore Concert at Overman Park in Cedar Falls September 7th at 7pm.

Be sure to not miss the final concert in the RiverLoop Rhythms series with Savage Aural Hotbed at the RiverLoop Amphitheater in Waterloo on September 11 starting at 5:30.

Education

In the Cedar Valley we’re lucky enough to have a number of amazing cultural institutions to visit. The Cedar Falls Historical Society will be hosting a Danish needlework workshop on September 20th, at 2pm. Advanced registration is required, so sign up here before it fills up.

The Cedar Valley Arboretum and Botanic Gardens will be hosting its annual Fall Harvest Fest to celebrate the end of summer and the beginning of the autumn season. The event will feature local crafts and foods, live entertainment, and demonstrations of blacksmithing, spinning, wood carving and more. Giving Back

If you’re looking for an opportunity to give back to our community while celebrating the new year, the Taylor Morris Glow Stick 5K is a race that gives back to an inspiring family in the area. Plus, you get to dress up in glow sticks! More information and registration here.

The UNI Department of Music will be hosting its 34th annual scholarship benefit concert. The concert will take place at the Gallagher-Bluedorn Performing Arts Center  on September 25th at 7:30pm and will include performances from faculty and students alike. Tickets are available here.
